Let Lavender Ease Your Back-To-School Routine

Posted by Cathy Smith on

School is back in full swing, and our homes are buzzing with new routines.

September always feels like a restart button for kids and parents, and even the sleep schedules that got a little more relaxed over the summer.

That’s why we recommend Lavender!

Lavender has been used for centuries as a gentle way to ease restlessness and promote relaxation. Science even backs it up, showing that lavender can lower heart rate and blood pressure, which can help create a deeper, more restful sleep. And when your house is adjusting to alarm clocks, after-school activities, and homework, every minute of rest counts.

Why Lavender May Improve Your Rest

  • Calms the nervous system: Lavender’s natural compounds can help ease stress and reduce the “wired but tired” feeling that keeps kids (and adults) tossing at night.
  • Supports consistency: When tied to a nightly ritual, lavender signals to the brain: “It’s time to wind down.”
  • Safe and versatile: Lavender can be enjoyed in many forms, making it easy to weave into everyday routines, like we’ll share below.

Ways to Use Lavender in Your Back-to-School Routine

Lavender Linen Mist

Lightly spritz Lavender Linen Mist on pillows and sheets about 10 minutes before bedtime. It’s the simplest way to signal to busy brains (and little ones) that it’s time to rest.

Lavender Essential Oil or Wear a Diffuser Bracelet

Diffuse a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil in your child’s bedroom while they brush teeth or read before bed. Want something they can carry through the day? Our Aromatherapy Diffuser Bracelets let them take that same grounding scent with them into school hallways, practices, and beyond.

Dried Lavender Bouquets & Sachets

Place a Dried Lavender Bouquet on a nightstand or tuck a sachet near the pillow to create a gentle bedtime atmosphere. The soft, natural scent helps signal to the body that it’s time to settle in and drift off to sleep.

Lavender Bath Soak or Bath Bombs

Turn “bath time” into “bedtime prep” with a scoop of Lavender Bath Soak or a fizzy Lavender Bath Bombs. Both release soothing aromas while relaxing tired muscles after long school days filled with sports, bus rides, and homework.

Lavender Soy Candles

Once the kids are out, it’s your turn. Light one of our Lavender Soy Candle Tins and enjoy the quiet moment while you decompress before bed. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a back-to-school whirlwind.

Lavender plus Consistency = Restful Nights

The real secret isn’t just lavender itself, it’s pairing it with consistent routines. When kids know bedtime means bath, story, lavender, lights out, their bodies start to recognize the rhythm, and lavender becomes part of that comforting pattern, helping everyone drift off a little easier.
